Hey guys -- I wanted to get some opinions on a couple of matters involving Chapter 4 from the Demo Chapter Package.

First, while in the cathedral, one of the major battles end when Frog and Crono allow the remaining Mystics to escape unharmed.

So, now that it's been out for a while and the Wii contest is in full swing, have any you guys read the newest Demo Chapter release yet? There are quite a few changes and improvements from before, and I'd love to hear some thoughts and opinions.

Because, quite frankly, they aren't up to par with a project of this stature. Forgivable for FF.net, but not for one having the gall (though, mind, righteously) to pronounce itself a novel project. I'm afraid I'm not wholly impressed.

From a linguistic standpoint, I've several gripes. I don't mean to offend, but are you using a thesaurus, substituting words arbitrarily? Some of these sentences are jarring for the use of words with odd connotations. Phrases such as "brazened with a...

I just read the second chapter, The Millenial Fair. I must say, in some ways, I am a bit dissapointed. The beginning (where it was talking about the locations and status of Truce and Porre) was too boring to those who aren't familiar with the game. I did really love the sequence before Crono got to the fair. The Truce Inn scene was done well and seemed realistic.

What I don't like though, is that some things happened unnaturally. I think you should be more creative instead of sticking...

Well, we lost a lot of stuff in this particular section after the ezBoard attack, so I think it's time to start a new topic.

Thinking of the way the Demo Chapters are done, what would you (or wouldn't you) change about them? Or, very simply, what do you feel are their strong and weak points?

I know that we all want Square to approve the novel idea, but a few days ago I had a nasty thought. Will the team that created CT actually be okay with someone else (In this case Wayne) writing and adding stuff to THEIR story? What if they don't like the idea of someone adding detail, that they might not even like by the way, to the world they created?

So, any chance of getting chapter six?

Whew! I just read Chapter 2 and Wayne, you blew me away! Great job man. I was riveted.

At first, I thought you were being a little too descriptive, with the grass and all the little nuances Crono encountered. But after getting to the Millenial Fair, I really appreciated the detail. I'm not sure how I would feel reading it had I not played the game, but I can tell you that after I had gotten used to it, it was very easy to understand. i was wondering if there is a chapter 1 for the demo. i downloaded the demo, but i just received 4 documents in the zip which were chapters 2-5. is this normal or is there actually a chapter 1? thanks.

As some of you may have already noticed, Release 3 of the Demo Chapters is now available at the site. There are many minor and some slightly more pertinent changes that have been made to the chapters. Thus, it would be a bit difficult and time-consuming for someone who was really interested to figure out the differences between Releases 2 and 3. (Differences between Releases 1 and 2 are more obvious.)

As the visitors, is anybody interested enough in the differences to actually...

Revised Demo Chapter Package Release

Hello!
At the site, you will see that the release of the Demo Chapters has been promised to happen pretty soon. The revised version IS almost complete, but may be delayed due to site hosting issues that I have had to attend to (and continue to deal with).

Anyway, you'll already know this is you're a part of the mailing list. I will also be on vacation this week, so that is part of the reason for the delay, though I PLANNED to have it finished before leaving. We'll see...

What do you think about parts in the game that may not work well in the novel? As mentioned, things like the bromide and Crono acting like a chicken for 10G. Personally, I would like them, they can add funny parts in the novel as in the game. However, some may feel they interrupt the story too much, or that they just don't work well in novel format. So, your thoughts?

The Bromide Debate

Check out the "Oi" topic in "Guardia Castle" to see what we've been discussing about the bromide.

In short, there is debate over the literal translation from the Japanese word BURAMAIDO from that release, which could mean "sedative," in a basic since, or could also mean "publicity photograph." Other indications lead it being a compound actually USED in photography. Perhaps the real debate should be over whether or not sedatives are used to...

Chapters 2-3 Transition

Here's a question about the novel:
Do you think that the Millennial Fair chapter should end before or after Crono passes through the Gate to go after Marle? Currently, the Demo Chapter (Chapter 2) includes him stepping through the Gate and going down the canyon. It doesn't end until he starts down towards the town, where Chapter 3 picks up.
