Someone told me about it today. so far it seems all we have is this site with a clock, the DS logo, square-enix's logo, and that oh so familiar ticking... It's like music to my ears... Anyway, I've heard all kinds of speculation about new dungeons and making use of the touchscreen(BLEAGH!!! Why couldn't they have just ported it to GBA? and what about those of us with PSPs?). Oh well, the original's the best anyway, and that's what I have. Then there's the PSX port, the various emulation... if they fixed the translation and/or make this a 3d remake, it would be very nice, provided that they don't change anything drastic. Hopefully if there is a new "dungeon" or any kind of modification, we'll get to see a finished version of Singing Mountain or whatever it was called. And hey, maybe they'll give us the unused battle theme... Maybe Mitsuda-sama will give us an updated version of his musical genius... This might actually make me want to buy a DS. I wonder what kind of homebrew software they have for it... hopefully some nice emulators. Well, a guy can dream, can't he? Let's hope this turns out to be good news and not the destruction of my favorite game.

...And if it's just a port, then I say good. At least some people who missed it the first time around get a chance to play it yet again. However, for the rest of us... Whoopty-doo, unless you're against emulation or something. Perhaps they're thinking of finally wrapping up some loose ends and using this as a test to find out if people would still buy into the series.

Don't start dancing yet, it's hardly confirmed. I'm still holding out hope that this is Chrono III for the moment, but it could very easily be an original project or otherwise unrelated, although that ticking sound is the same from the opening of Chrono Trigger, so it seems pretty likely that it's Chrono-related.

I'm fairly sure its chorno trigger DS, looking at an article in the shonen jump magazine. Looks almost as if they will remain true to the original graphics too, which some think is good, some bad.

It's a straight port, with the addition of a new dungeon and wireless play. There has been no info on what exactly is involved with the wireless play though which is very curious to me. I've heard rumors that they will reincorporate the Toriyama cutscenes from the PS port into this game as well.

Personally I'm glad it will be a straight port. I really like the graphics. Will be interesting to see what is in this "new dungeon". Overall I'm pretty excited to see this game on my ds. Might have to upgrade to a light just for it.

Yes, I would imagine that any residual feelings of disappointment that the game did not receive the full-on "omg it's all 3d and voiced and stuff" that FFIV got (I'm still playing that one, and it is quite good) will fade away in the excitement of playing frickin Chrono Trigger on the frickin DS. =)

Very curious about the additional dungeon.. does that mean there could be a new ending to the game, separate from the dozen or so we know backwards and forwards? That would make the game extremely worth playing, beyond it's original merits of course. Another item to ponder is the multiplayer - is it local only or Nintendo Wi-Fi? If the latter I foresee a large "friend codes" thread in our future ^_^

I dont really see how they would make the game multiplayer. I'm more interested in how they will utilize the touch screen.

Update (bit old) :The Japanese site has a trailer up now. And a few articles have just came out in regards to the music within the game.

I went berserk once I got the news which was weird, I happened to stumble across Chrono Compendium out of curiosity the same day. I don't mind it being a full port, it's actually better for me since I loved the original game so much. I also expect some great gameplay with the touch screen.

I'm thinking the wireless won't be involving the actual storyline because being able to play with others is just way to good to be true.

Well, it couldnt really be integrated into the story at all. And if it were? What? someone else can control one of your characters. I'd say perhaps a bunch of small multiplayer mini-game esque features.

From what I've heard this will be the first release of CT in Europe (although they'll be getting it in early '09) and it will actually have more than just one new dungeon--supposedly there will be, and I quote, "new dungeons".

And there'll be some kind of arena mode. Regardless of what they do, I am truly looking forward to this game; good thing November isn't too far off.

Well, Maguschild, have you never played Chrono Cross? This is no spoiler or "secret" anything. What I see in that video is the Time Devourer from Chrono Cross. That is an interesting video, but there's no spoiler whatsoever. Everything in that video is pretty much already known. The only thing that's new is that they show Magus trying to fight the time devourer and speak to Schala, after which he arrives in a place he doesn't know, and he can't remember who he is or what he was doing... My guess is Schala sent him to a time when Kid is alive, but where the hell was Magus the whole time CC was taking place? According to Radical Dreamers, he's there with Kid, acting as some sort of protector. However, he is nowhere to be found in Chrono Cross, even though there's a hint about him being around somewhere...

That still doesn't give us an explanation of that one cutscene from the PSX version that shows two shadowy figures fighting... Hmmm... I wonder...

Apparently if you pre-ordered CT DS, you get a bonus CD with orchestrated versions of some of the music in CT. I've wanted something like this for quite a long time. It would be cool to have a 3D remake with all orchestrated music. Sadly, I doubt it will ever happen, though. Hell, I don't care if they don't do the remake; I just want the orchestrated music. The SNES music is good enough as it is, but orchestrated is even better.

Well I have the game, and there is actually new cannon to the series. If you want to know what it's all about I implore you to check out the Compendium's page of the CTDS changes. Not in reference to the video that MC put up, but something else that explains some of what happens between the events in Trigger and Cross.

My thoughts are that the game is magnificent. The touch screen features and nice but not needed, they take some getting used to but are actually pretty useful for menu navigation and battling. I tried the movement and it is just awkward, using the D-Pad is easier. The script is completely rewritten, there are not really any lines carried over from the original game. Whether or not you like that is personal opinion because most of the classic lines are changed into something similar but still carrying the same overall message.

But buy the game!! If you show support it will entice SE to make a sequel. It's definitely worth the purchase just to be able to play it anywhere you want. Plus all the extras from the PS1 re-release are in there so you also have all the endings, all the in game FMV's and the entire soundtrack which is awesome because it plays tracks that are not cued to end for as long as you like. I was folding my laundry and listening to Peaceful Days (Truce town theme) for an hour straight and was loving it!
