Er...but wait, CTboy. Doesn't this mean we'll have to either set you on fire or hang you upside down for a few days? You said that saying something is better than CT at something is intolerable. Like when I accidently said that King's Quest was nostalgia at its best until you and Wayne corrected me. And to favor Spiderman over everyone's favorite mute hero...
Well anyway, has anyone noticed that of all the comic-based movies Marvel is making, Spiderman is the only one getting more than one movie? Oh wait, I guess there's also X-men.
Thats because it's the only one besides Xmen to get rave reviews and make tons of money. All the other ones were either terrible or did poorly or both.
I defintely think most of the poorly done ones could have been done much better. The Punisher was not focused, it bounced around way too much. The Hulk was so far from the actual story that it just wasn't fun to watch. FF was okay but they tried to copy the Spider-Man formula (Action, Romance, and Drama all equally balanced) which didn't work because of the difference in characters. I might be forgetting a couple...
Was The Hulk even farther from the original story than Spidey? Because the comics didn't have things like Parker admiring MJ from afar since childhood, as I recall. But things like that apparently didn't affect the enjoyment of the movies for most people.
Well those are completely different things. For one, they followed the comic storyline pretty well but replaced Gwen Stacy with Mary-Jane. It went exactly the same except that in the comics Gwen died on the bridge instead of living. Even down to Norman dying while battling Peter. The second movie was a bit farther from the truth, but that was just with Octavius. In the comics he lasted a lot longer but it's different for the movies. Spidey has so many enemies that it is unrealistic for them to keep one alive, even as monumental as Doc Ock. They could make ten movies and still not cover all of his major enemies unless they do more than one at a time.
The Hulk was completely different. His origin, his father, just everything was wrong. Just read up on his real comic history and you'll see how bad it is.
But while we're on the subject of Spidey's enemies, are there any that haven't been featured in the films that you would like to be in a possible fourth movie?
I'm a little disappointed that they have yet to include MY favorite Spider Man baddy. The Scorpion.
Freaking school making me unable to respond. (shakes fist)
Anywho...enemies I want to see but haven't yet? Hmm. Honestly not really in a movie format. The only one I really want to see is Carnage, but I don't think one movie can do him the justice he deserves. Well...I guess they might be able to do it but they'd have to soley focus on him and I don't know if that is the direction Raimi is taking the movies. If they put all thier efforts into doing the Maximum Carnage series in one movie that would be great but that would be tough since there are SO many other superhero appearences it would be impossible to explain all of them and thier origins. Non fans would be so confused they wouldn't know what was going on. Oh well.
Well, what with the new year now having started, we have now only a little over four months of waiting left until number 3 comes out.
By the way, did you hear about the new animated TMNT movie? I'll say this, the computer animated turtles look so much nicer than the costumed ones used in the three live-action movies. But that's just my opinion.
I'm looking forward to that as well as the Transformers movie. And the Simpsons movie too but I'm skeptical about that because of the poor shows as of late.
I find it hilarious that there are no movies at all coming out the week that Spider-Man 3 comes out. As if they needed any more help to destroy box office records. Haha.
